About Dialog
The About dialog tells you which version of Compass you have, and whether your copy is activated or how long your trial has left. Open it from the Help menu, read the version and status, and click Close when you are done.
Open the About Dialog
To check your version and activation status:
- Click Help in the menu bar (in the main window on Windows).
- Click About (About Dialog on Windows).
The About dialog opens over the main window, centered on the screen.
tip
On macOS you can also click Compass → About Compass in the Compass application menu.
What the About Dialog Shows
| Item | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Icon and name | The Compass icon and the application name. |
| Version | The version of Compass you have installed. |
| Status | Whether Compass is activated, or how much of the trial is left, as described below. |
| Copyright line | The Compass copyright notice. |
| Close | Closes the dialog. |
Status Values
The Status line reads one of the following:
| Status | When It Shows |
|---|---|
| Activated | A valid license is installed on your computer. |
| The number of days remaining | Compass is running on a trial license, and the line counts the days left in the trial. |
| Trial (last day) | It is the final day of the trial, when less than a whole day is left to count. |
Close the About Dialog
To dismiss the dialog:
- Click Close.
The dialog closes and the main window is usable again. The dialog's title-bar close button closes it as well.
