Open Documentation

The Documentation command opens the Compass online documentation in your default web browser, so the manual is one menu item away rather than a bookmark you have to go and find.

Overview

The command is on the Help menu, beneath the About Dialog entry (About on macOS). It hands the documentation address to whichever browser your system treats as the default.

If the browser cannot be launched, Compass reports the failure rather than letting it pass silently, so you are never left wondering whether the command did anything.

Procedures

Open the Documentation

To bring the manual up in your browser:

  1. Click Help on the menu bar.
  2. Click Documentation.

The documentation opens in your default web browser.

note

On macOS the Help menu sits in the system menu bar at the top of the screen and carries the same Documentation item.

The Help menu open in the macOS menu bar with Documentation highlighted.
