Import Natal Records
Import reads natal records out of a CSV file and adds them to the table in the Natal Records Editor. If your birth data already lives in a spreadsheet or another application, this brings it in without typing each record.
Overview
Imported rows are appended to what is already in the table rather than replacing it, and a message reports how many arrived. Nothing reaches disk until you save the editor, and it is at that point that any ambiguous or nonexistent times among the imported rows are settled.
The file picker offers a CSV Files (*.csv) filter and an All Files (*.*) filter, and takes one file at a time.
Procedures
Import Natal Records from a CSV File
With the Natal Records Editor open:
- Click Data on the editor's menu bar.
- Click Import in the Data menu.
- Select the CSV file and confirm the choice.
The imported rows are appended to the table and the number that arrived is reported. The editor is now marked as having unsaved changes.
The imported records are not on disk until you save. Click Save in the editor to keep them, and expect to settle any flagged times at that point. See Ambiguous Time Resolution.
