Speed Extrema

The Speed Extrema study finds when a body reaches a maximum or minimum longitudinal speed.

Creating a Speed Extrema Study

To create a Speed Extrema study:

  • Click Mundane Studies → Longitudinal Studies → Speed Extrema on the menu bar.

The new study opens with the workspace's default settings, ready to configure. You can also create it from the study-group dropdown button on the main toolbar.

Events Captured

A speed extremum occurs when a body reaches a maximum or minimum longitudinal speed. Each event marks a point in the study's date range where a selected body's longitudinal speed reaches a local peak or trough.

An Event Type dropdown controls which extrema are captured: minima, maxima, or both.
