Open a Chart from Cygnus
When you are working in Cygnus, you can see the full chart for a moment on an ephemeris without re-entering it in Compass. Double-click an ephemeris record, or a point on a graphic ephemeris line, and Compass opens, or comes forward if it is already running, with a new Mundane chart window at that date and time.
Cygnus uses no natal data, so the chart it opens is always a Mundane Chart. The gesture belongs to Cygnus: Compass has no control of its own for it.
What the Chart Takes from Cygnus
The chart is cast from what Cygnus sends, and what Cygnus does not send comes from Compass.

Open a Chart from a Cygnus Ephemeris Record
Before you start, Compass must be installed and Cygnus must be open with an ephemeris study that has generated records in its records table.
To open the chart for the moment of an ephemeris record:
- In Cygnus, double-click an ephemeris record's row in the study's records table.
Compass brings to the front a new Mundane chart window at the record's exact moment. Double-clicking a column header, a scroll bar or empty space in the table opens nothing.
Open a Chart from a Cygnus Graphic Ephemeris Point
Before you start, Compass must be installed and Cygnus must be open with an ephemeris study that has drawn its graphic ephemeris.
To open the chart for the moment of a point on a graphic ephemeris line:
- In Cygnus, double-click a point on a graphic ephemeris line in the study.
Compass brings to the front a new Mundane chart window at the point's exact moment. The chart shows every body the graph plots, not only the line you double-clicked.
How Compass Receives the Chart
You do not need to start Compass first:
- If Compass is installed but not running, Cygnus starts it.
- If a chart arrives while Compass is still loading at startup, Compass holds it and opens it once loading completes.
