Mundane Chart

A Mundane chart plots the sky as it stands over a place at a moment. It is the chart to reach for when the subject is an event, an ingress, or the present instant rather than a person or a founding.

Overview​

A Mundane chart is anchored by two things: a location and a date and time. Its wheel carries a single point set and the aspects matched among them.

Where the two anchors live is worth knowing, because they sit in different parts of the window:

  • The location is the first row of the settings column at the left, drawn from your saved locations. It is what places the chart's houses. See Mundane Chart Configuration.
  • The date and time are in the time navigation band above the wheel, not in the settings column. See Chart Time Navigation.

Beneath the location row sit the six calculation-frame rows every chart type carries, documented as the Chart Calculation Frame, and below those the bodies list and the aspect angles grid.

How it differs from the other chart types​

  • Against a Natal chart: a Mundane chart takes its moment and place from the controls in the window, where a Natal chart takes both from a saved natal record.
  • Against a Transit chart: a Mundane chart has only one point set. There is no second, natal set to aspect against.

Opening a Mundane Chart​

A Mundane chart opens for the default location at the current moment, and you change it from there.
