Transit Chart

A Transit chart plots transiting body positions, for the current moment or any moment you choose, against a natal reference set. It combines the transiting moment and frame of a Mundane chart with the reference bodies of a natal record, then matches the aspects between the transiting and natal points. This is the core technique for timing and forecasting: it shows how the currently transiting bodies aspect a person's natal chart.

What defines a Transit chart​

A Transit chart brings together two sets of positions:

  • Transiting positions: the bodies for a chosen moment and location, in the selected ephemeris frame, as in a Mundane chart.
  • Natal reference: the reference bodies drawn from a saved natal record.

Compass then matches aspects between the transiting bodies and the natal bodies and draws them on the wheel. Because the transiting side has its own moment, you can step a Transit chart through time to watch the transits form and separate.

How it differs from the other charts​

  • Unlike a Mundane Chart, a Transit chart adds a natal reference set, so it also shows aspects between the transiting bodies and a natal chart.
  • Unlike a Natal Chart, a Transit chart has its own transiting moment separate from the birth data, so you can move it forward and backward through time.
