Chart Time Navigation
The time navigation band sits above the wheel and moves the chart through time. Advance a chart a day, a month, or a year at a time and watch the aspects form and separate, or jump straight to a moment you have in mind.
Overview
The band always carries a step unit dropdown and a pair of back and forward chevrons. Charts that have a transiting moment, which means Mundane and Transit charts, also show a date picker and a time picker here.
A Natal chart shows neither picker, because its moment lives in the settings column rather than in this band. The chevrons still work on a Natal chart: what they move is its natal moment.
Holding a chevron repeats the step, so the chart scrolls through time rather than advancing once.
Keyboard shortcuts
The shortcuts work anywhere in the chart window:

Shift+1 through Shift+7 | Select the step unit, from Seconds through Years in the order listed below. |
The shortcuts stand aside while you are typing into a text field, with one exception. Inside the masked date and time pickers, which accept digits only, + and - still step the chart, while the shifted-digit shortcuts give way to the mask.
Procedures
Choose the Time Step Unit
To decide how far one step moves the chart:
- Select a step unit from the time-step dropdown above the wheel.
The dropdown shows the chosen unit, and the back and forward chevrons now move the chart by one of that unit.
Step the Chart Forward
To advance the chart moment by one time step unit:
- Click the forward chevron above the wheel.
The chart moment advances and the wheel recalculates and redraws. Hold the chevron to repeat the step and scroll forward through time.
Step the Chart Back
To move the chart moment back by one time step unit:
- Click the back chevron above the wheel.
The chart moment moves back and the wheel recalculates and redraws. Hold the chevron to scroll back through time.
Jump the Chart to a Date
To move the chart straight to a specific date rather than stepping to it:
- Enter the date into the chart date picker above the wheel.
The chart's transiting moment takes the entered date and the wheel recalculates and redraws.
Jump the Chart to a Time
To move the chart straight to a specific time of day:
- Enter the time into the chart time picker above the wheel.
The chart's transiting moment takes the entered time and the wheel recalculates and redraws.
