Chart Time Navigation
The time-navigation band runs across the top of the chart window. It lets you move a chart forward or backward through time in fixed steps, so you can watch positions and aspects change without retyping the date each time. Each step advances the underlying instant by one unit, handles daylight-saving transitions correctly, and recalculates the wheel.
Choose the step unit
The Time Step dropdown sets the unit that the Back and Forward buttons move by. The available units are:
- Seconds
- Minutes
- Hours
- Days
- Weeks
- Months
- Years
To choose the step unit:
- Select a unit from the Time Step dropdown.
You can also select a step unit from the keyboard with Shift+1 through Shift+7.
Step through time
Once you have chosen a step unit, use the Back and Forward buttons to move the chart's moment one unit at a time.
To move the chart forward:
- Click the Forward step button.
To move the chart back:
- Click the Back step button.
Press the + key to step forward and the - key to step back.
Set the transiting date and time
On Mundane and Transit charts, the time band also shows date and time pickers for the transiting moment. (A Natal chart has no separate transiting moment, so these pickers do not appear.) The pickers already show the chart's current instant, so change only the field you need:
- The transiting date and transiting time pickers pin the exact instant the transiting bodies are calculated for. Editing either one recalculates the wheel.
