Natal Chart

A Natal chart shows the sky at the moment of a person's birth. It is drawn from a saved natal record, which supplies both the birth moment and the birth location. A Natal chart is the classic birth chart: use it to study the natal placements of the bodies and the aspects between them.

What defines a Natal chart​

A Natal chart is defined by a single natal record. The record's own date, time, and place fix the chart, so a Natal chart has no separate transiting moment of its own: the birth data is the chart. You choose which bodies to plot, which aspects to match, and which ephemeris frame to use, but the moment and location come straight from the record.

How it differs from the other charts​

  • Unlike a Mundane Chart, a Natal chart is tied to a person or event through its natal record rather than to a freely chosen place and time.
  • Unlike a Transit Chart, a Natal chart has no transiting moment: it shows only the birth sky, not current positions measured against it.
