Natal Chart
A Natal chart plots the sky at the moment and place recorded in one of your saved natal records. It is drawn from the record rather than re-entered each time, so the chart of a person, an entity, or a founding moment is always one selection away.
Overview
Choosing a record from the Natal Record dropdown fills the chart's Natal Date and Natal Time from it, and the record's own coordinates supply the house frame. That is why a Natal chart shows no Location row: the record already carries the place.
The Natal Date and Natal Time fields stay editable so you can try a "what-if" moment without altering the stored record, but under normal circumstances you leave them exactly as the record supplied them. See Natal Chart Configuration.
Beneath those rows sit the six calculation-frame rows every chart type carries, documented as the Chart Calculation Frame.
A Natal chart can still be moved through time with the window's step controls, but what those controls move is its natal moment. That is why the time navigation band on a Natal chart carries a step unit dropdown and the two chevrons, and no date and time picker.
How it differs from the other chart types
- Against a Mundane chart: a Natal chart is anchored to a stored record rather than to a freely chosen place and moment.
- Against a Transit chart: a Natal chart shows only that one point set. There is no second, transiting sky drawn against it.
Opening a Natal Chart
A Natal chart opens for the default natal record at its own moment, and you pick a different record from there.
