Transit Chart Configuration

The settings panel runs down the left side of a Transit chart window and is organized into two tab pairs, stacked vertically. The upper pair sets the reference frames; the lower pair sets the bodies and aspects. Change any control and the wheel recalculates live.

The transiting date and time for a Transit chart are not on this panel. They live in the window's time-navigation band. See Chart Time Navigation.

Panel layout

The upper tab pair holds:

  • Ephemeris (the default tab): the transiting frame, with the Location dropdown and the frame and display controls.
  • Natal Data: the natal reference record, with its Natal Date and Natal Time.

The lower tab pair, which shares the remaining height, holds:

  • Transiting Bodies & Aspects (the default tab): the transiting bodies list and aspects grid.
  • Natal Bodies: the editable natal bodies list.

Configure the transiting frame

The transiting frame lives on the Ephemeris tab, which is selected by default.

To configure it:

  1. Select the transiting location from the Location dropdown. This sets the geographic point the transiting side of the chart is cast for.
  2. Define the transiting ephemeris frame with the Zodiac, Coord. Origin, and Ref. Plane dropdowns. Together these establish the coordinate system the transiting body positions are computed in.
  3. Set the wheel orientation and houses with the Orientation and House System dropdowns.
  4. Select the parallel-aspect display from the Paral. Aspects dropdown.

The wheel recalculates as you change each control.

note

The Orientation dropdown is disabled under a heliocentric coordinate origin, and the House System dropdown is enabled only while the orientation is Horizon.

Configure the natal reference data

The natal reference record lives on the Natal Data tab.

To set it:

  1. Click the Natal Data tab.
  2. Select a record from the Natal Record dropdown, then adjust the Natal Date and Natal Time if needed. Selecting a record loads its natal set and fills in its birth date and time.

The Transit wheel recalculates its transiting-to-natal aspects from the chosen record.

Natal Data tab

Natal Record: your saved birth records. This is a searchable dropdown, so you can type to filter the list. Choosing a record loads its date, time, and location. Manage the list in the Natal Records Editor.

Natal Date and Natal Time: the birth moment, filled in automatically from the selected record. These fields are primarily for reference and normally remain unchanged, but they stay editable so you can experiment with "what-if" adjustments without altering the saved record.

Bodies and aspects

The lower tab pair hosts the shared bodies and aspects surfaces:

  • The Transiting Bodies & Aspects tab holds the transiting bodies list and aspects grid.
  • The Natal Bodies tab holds the editable natal bodies list.

Both bodies lists work the same way. See Chart Bodies Selection and Chart Bodies Presets for the bodies list, and Chart Aspect Angles and Chart Aspects Presets for the aspects grid.
