Chart Bodies Presets

Bodies presets are named sets of body selections you can save and reapply, so you do not have to re-check the list every time. Presets are saved and available across all chart windows.

In Compass there is no preset button. The presets menu opens only by right-clicking a body row in the bodies list; right-clicking a group header row does nothing. New Preset and Clear Default sit on the top level of that menu, while Apply and each preset's own options (Set Default, Rename, Replace, and Delete) are reached through the Presets submenu.

Apply a saved preset

To apply a saved preset:

  1. Right-click on any body row within the list of selectable bodies to open the context menu (right-clicking a group header row does not open it).
  2. Click the Presets menu item to view the submenu that lists all saved presets.
  3. Apply a preset by clicking its name, or right-click a preset name to access its options.

The bodies list with the right-click context menu open and the Presets submenu expanded to list saved presets.

Save a new preset

Saving a preset stores the bodies currently checked in the list under a name of your choosing.

To save the current selection as a preset:

  1. Right-click a body row to open the context menu.
  2. Click New Preset.
  3. Type a name in the Enter Name dialog and click Save.

The bodies list with the right-click context menu open, showing the New Preset command at the top level.

The Enter Name dialog

Both New Preset and Rename open the Enter Name dialog, a small dialog with a single name field and Save and Cancel buttons. Type a name and click Save to confirm, or Cancel to dismiss it without changes.

Set a preset as the default

The default preset is marked with a chevron in the Presets submenu.

To set a preset as the default:

  1. Right-click a body row to open the context menu.
  2. Click Presets to open the submenu.
  3. Right-click the preset name and select Set Default.

The bodies list with the Presets submenu expanded and a preset name right-clicked to reveal its Set Default option.

Clear the default preset

To remove the default marker so that no preset is the default:

  1. Right-click a body row to open the context menu.
  2. Click Clear Default.

The bodies list with the right-click context menu open, showing the Clear Default command at the top level.

Rename a preset

To change a preset's name:

  1. Right-click a body row to open the context menu.
  2. Click Presets to open the submenu.
  3. Right-click the preset name and select Rename.
  4. Type the new name in the Enter Name dialog and click Save.

The bodies list with the Presets submenu expanded and a preset name right-clicked to reveal its Rename option.

Replace a preset

Replacing a preset overwrites it with the bodies currently checked in the list.

To replace a preset with the current selection:

  1. Right-click a body row to open the context menu.
  2. Click Presets to open the submenu.
  3. Right-click the preset name and select Replace.

The bodies list with the Presets submenu expanded and a preset name right-clicked to reveal its Replace option.

Delete a preset

To remove a saved preset:

  1. Right-click a body row to open the context menu.
  2. Click Presets to open the submenu.
  3. Right-click the preset name and select Delete.

The bodies list with the Presets submenu expanded and a preset name right-clicked to reveal its Delete option.
