Chart Bodies Presets

A body preset is a named, saved body selection. Instead of ticking a dozen checkboxes on every new chart, save the set once and apply it in one gesture.

Overview

How to reach the presets

Every preset command lives on the same right-click context menu as the selection commands. There is no flyout button, no dropdown, and no toolbar control anywhere on the bodies list, and right-clicking a group header row opens nothing.

To reach your saved presets:

  1. Right-click any body row within the bodies list to open the context menu.
  2. Click the Presets menu item to open the submenu listing all saved presets.
  3. Apply a preset by clicking its name, or right-click a preset name to reach its own options.

A chevron in the Presets submenu marks whichever preset is the default.

Which lists share a preset

Presets are stored per body-list category, and the four bodies lists share only two categories:

CategoryLists it serves
TransitingThe Mundane chart's bodies list and the Transit chart's transiting bodies list.
NatalThe Natal chart's bodies list and the Transit chart's natal bodies list.

A preset saved on either list of a pair is therefore offered on both, in that chart window and in every one you open afterwards.

Procedures

To rebuild a familiar body selection in one gesture:

  1. Right-click any body row in the bodies list and select Presets.
  2. Click the preset's name in the Presets submenu.

Delete a Body Preset

  1. Right-click any body row in the bodies list and select Presets.

Preset Name Prompt

Choosing New Preset or Rename raises a small prompt that collects the preset's name. It holds one text box with Save and Cancel buttons. Raised from New Preset the box is empty; raised from Rename it opens pre-filled with the current name, ready to edit. The text box takes focus as the prompt opens, and Save stays unavailable until the box holds text.

To name the preset:

  1. Enter the name in the prompt's text box.
  2. Click the Save button.

The prompt closes and the preset is saved, or renamed, under the entered name with any surrounding spaces trimmed off.

tip

Save is the prompt's default button, so pressing Enter does the same thing.

To back out instead:

  • Click the Cancel button.

The prompt closes, the entered text is discarded, and no preset is created or renamed. Pressing Esc or closing the prompt from its title bar does the same.

Reference

The Presets submenu

The submenu lists your saved body presets, each a name plus the set of bodies it ticks. It shows only the presets saved for this list's own category, so a Mundane chart's bodies list never offers a natal preset.

The presets are yours to create, so the submenu's contents cannot be listed here. Use New Preset to add one, and the per-preset menu below to manage the ones you have. A chevron marks the default.

Per-preset commands

Right-clicking a preset's name in the Presets submenu offers four commands, and each acts on the preset whose row you right-clicked:

CommandWhat it does
Set DefaultMarks this preset as the category's default, shown by a chevron.
RenameOpens the name prompt pre-filled with the current name.
ReplaceOverwrites the preset with the list's current ticks, keeping its name.
DeleteRemoves the preset.
