Chart Aspect Angles

Decide which aspects a chart looks for. Every chart type's settings panel carries a grid of aspect angles: type an angle in the entry box below the grid and press Enter or click the add button; to change an angle, click its row, click the cell, type the new value and press Tab or Enter; and to remove angles, select their rows and press Delete, or right-click for Delete Selected or Delete All. The grid's right-click menu also holds the aspect presets, described in Chart Aspects Presets.

Each row is one angle in degrees measured around the circle, from 0 up to but not including 360, so 90 and 270 are separate entries.

Where the Aspects Grid Appears

The grid has one column. Its heading, its place in the settings panel and the use its angles are put to differ by chart type:

On a chart whose grid sits on a tab, click that tab before working in the grid. The Mundane, Natal, Transit, Solar Arc Directions and Secondary Progressions charts match their aspect chords within the orbs set for that chart type in the Aspect Settings Window. Only the Primary Directions chart has no orb, and its Aspect Settings window shows the orb disabled. Add an Aspect Angle

Add an angle for the chart to look for.

• Type the angle in degrees in the entry box beneath the aspects grid and press Enter.

The angle is appended as a new row of the grid, the box is cleared, and the chart is redrawn using the new angle. The add button beside the box, enabled once the box holds text, adds the angle too.

Edit an Aspect Angle

Change the value of an angle already in the grid.

1. Click the angle's row in the aspects grid to select it.
2. Click the row's cell to enter edit mode.
3. Type the new angle.
4. Press Enter to commit the edit.

The first click selects the row without editing it; the second click, on the cell, opens it for editing. The cell accepts digits and a decimal point only. Pressing Tab also commits the value and moves focus on to the next cell. The row then holds the new angle, and the chart is redrawn using it.

Open the Aspects Grid Context Menu

Open the right-click menu of an aspects grid: the aspects grid of a chart window's settings panel, or the Aspects grid of the Aspect Settings Editor.

If the grid sits on a tab, click that tab first: the Transiting Bodies & Aspects, Promissors & Aspects, Directed & Aspects or Progressed & Aspects tab on the Transit, Primary Directions, Solar Arc Directions and Secondary Progressions charts, or the Aspects tab on the Mundane, Natal and Transit Aspect Settings windows.

• Right-click a row of the aspects grid.

The grid's context menu opens. Rows selected before the right-click stay selected while the menu is open, and right-clicking the grid's column header opens nothing.

Menu Item	What It Does
Delete Selected	Removes the selected angles.
Delete All	Removes every angle.
Presets	Opens the submenu of the chart type's saved aspect presets.
New Preset	Saves the grid's current angles as a new preset.
Clear Default	Removes the default from the chart type's preset shelf.

A separator stands between Delete All and Presets. On a chart window's grid all five items are present; on the Aspects grid of the Aspect Settings Editor the menu holds Delete Selected and Delete All only. The three preset items are described in Chart Aspects Presets.

Delete Selected Aspect Angles

Remove chosen angles from the grid.

1. Click the angle's row in the aspects grid to select it.
2. Open the aspects grid's context menu, as described in Open the Aspects Grid Context Menu.
3. Click Delete Selected in the context menu.

tip

Cmd-click (Ctrl-click on Windows) or Shift-click more rows to add them to the selection before you open the menu. With the grid focused and rows selected, pressing Delete, or Backspace (the key a Mac keyboard labels delete), removes them too.

The selected rows leave the grid, and the chart stops looking for those angles.

Delete All Aspect Angles

Empty the grid.

1. Open the aspects grid's context menu, as described in Open the Aspects Grid Context Menu.
2. Click Delete All in the context menu.

Every row leaves the grid, and the chart looks for no aspects. An emptied grid is kept as an empty selection when the chart is saved to a file, as described in Save Chart.

Sort the Aspect Angles

Put the grid's angles into ascending order.

• Click the aspects grid's column header.

The rows are reordered from the smallest angle to the largest. The header carries the grid's own heading, such as Aspects or Direction Aspects. The sort is always ascending; clicking the header again leaves the order as it is.
