Main Window

The main window is the primary interface for Ephy. It contains all the controls you need to create, configure, and generate ephemerides. The window title displays the name of the current workspace.

The main window is organized into the following areas:

  • Menu bar — Provides access to all application features through the File, Ephemerides, Edit, View, and Help menus. On macOS, the menu appears in the native menu bar at the top of the screen rather than inside the window.
  • Toolbar — Contains buttons for common operations including workspace management (New, Open, Save), study creation (Geocentric, Heliocentric, Topocentric), and editors (Default Settings, Locations). The toolbar also displays the theme toggle, status indicators, and the update available notification when applicable.
  • Studies list panel — A resizable panel on the left side that lists all studies in the current workspace. See Studies List Panel for details.
  • Study content area — The main area on the right side that displays the currently selected study's configuration and results.
  • Activity bar — A bar at the bottom of the studies list panel that shows status messages. See Activity Bar for details.

Resizing the Studies List Panel​

  • Drag the splitter between the studies list panel and the study content area left or right to adjust panel widths.

About Dialog​

The About dialog displays application information including the application name, version number, copyright, and credits.

To view the About dialog:

  1. Click Help in the menu bar.
  2. Click About.
