Latitude Extrema
The Latitude Extrema study finds the points where a body reaches an extreme in its latitude or declination.
Creating a Latitude Extrema Study
To create a Latitude Extrema study:
- Click Mundane Studies → Declination Studies → Latitude Extrema on the menu bar.
The new study opens with the workspace's default settings, ready to configure. You can also create it from the study-group dropdown button on the main toolbar.
Events Captured
A latitude extremum occurs when a body reaches a minimum or maximum in its latitude (or declination in equatorial systems). Each event marks the point in the study's date range where a selected body's latitude stops increasing and begins to decrease, or the reverse.
An Event Type dropdown controls which extrema are captured: minima, maxima, or both.
