Exit Application
Exiting closes Cygnus. If the workspace holds unsaved changes, the application asks whether to save them before it closes, so you never lose work by leaving.
The command is unavailable while the workspace is locked by a save or a load, and while a study is generating records. Wait for the generation to finish, or stop it with Cancel Record Generation, and then exit.
Exit Cygnus
To close the application:
- Open the File menu.
- Click Exit in the File menu.

Closing the window with its title-bar close button does the same thing.
The Unsaved Changes Prompt
When the workspace holds unsaved changes, an "Unsaved Changes" prompt appears before Cygnus closes. It offers three answers, one per section below. The same prompt appears in other places where pending changes would otherwise be discarded, such as starting a new workspace, opening a saved workspace, or closing the Locations Editor, Default Settings, or Graph Settings windows.
Save Changes from the Unsaved Changes Prompt
Choose this when you want to keep the pending changes and let the action that raised the prompt continue.
- Click the Yes button.
Cygnus writes the pending changes to storage, and the action that opened the prompt continues. On the main window, the Changes are saved indicator turns green.
Discard Changes from the Unsaved Changes Prompt
Choose this when the pending changes are not worth keeping.
- Click the No button.
Cygnus discards the unsaved changes, and the action that opened the prompt continues without them.
Cancel from the Unsaved Changes Prompt
Choose this when you would rather stay where you are.
- Click the Cancel button.
Cygnus abandons the action that opened the prompt, keeps your unsaved changes, and leaves the window open.
