Main Window
The main window is your workspace surface. It hosts the menu bar
and toolbar along the top, the studies list
on the left, and the selected study's configuration and records on the right.
The window title shows Cygnus - {workspace name}.
Launching Cygnus
When you start Cygnus, the main window opens centered on screen with a new, empty workspace. The application icon is shown in the study content area until you select or create a study.
To start Cygnus:
- Open Cygnus from your desktop or Start-menu shortcut (Windows), or from the Applications folder or Launchpad (macOS).
Window Layout
The main window is organized into the following areas:
- Menu Bar: the File, Ephemerides, Edit, View, and Help menus that reach every command.
- Toolbar: icon buttons for the most common workspace, study, and editor commands.
- Status Indicators: at-a-glance feedback on unsaved changes and in-progress generation.
- Studies List: the list of every study in the current workspace, shown on the left.
- Theme Toggle: switches between the light and dark appearance.
- Exit Application: closes Cygnus, prompting you to save unsaved work first.

Resizing the Studies List
A splitter separates the studies list from the study content area. Drag it left or right to widen or narrow the studies list; the study content area takes the remaining space.
