Open Workspace

Opening a workspace loads a set of studies you saved earlier from its .cygnus file, replacing the studies currently held. Once the workspace is loaded, the first study in it is selected automatically and its editor opens, and the workspace name appears in the window title.

Open a Saved Workspace​

To return to a workspace you saved earlier:

  1. Open the File menu.
  2. Click Open in the File menu.
  3. Choose the .cygnus workspace file. See Open a File from the OS Open Dialog below.

Pressing Ctrl+O (Cmd+O on macOS) does the same thing, as does the Open button on the Toolbar.

caution

If the open workspace holds studies and has unsaved changes, an "Unsaved Changes" prompt appears first. Choose Save Changes to keep the current work, Discard Changes to abandon it, or Cancel to stay where you are.

The command is unavailable while the workspace is locked by a save or a load, and while a study is generating records.

Open a File from the OS Open Dialog​

Several Cygnus commands ask your operating system to show its standard open-file picker, already filtered to the file type the command expects. Opening a workspace uses it, and so does Import Locations.

To choose the file:

  1. Navigate to the folder holding the file.
  2. Click the file.
  3. Click Open.

The picker closes and Cygnus reads the file you chose.

Cancel the OS Open Dialog​

To back out without reading anything:

  • Click Cancel.

The picker closes, nothing is read, and the command that opened it stops.
