New Workspace

A new workspace gives you a clean set of studies to work in. Creating one empties the Studies list, discarding the studies currently loaded, and resets the window title to Cygnus - New workspace.

The new workspace takes its defaults from the current Application Defaults, which become its workspace defaults and are applied to every study you create in it. See Default Settings for how that inheritance works.

Create a New Workspace

To start a fresh workspace:

  1. Open the File menu.
  2. Click New in the File menu.

The File menu open over the Cygnus window, with the New command highlighted at the top of the menu.

Pressing Ctrl+N (Cmd+N on macOS) does the same thing, as does the New button on the Toolbar.

caution

If the open workspace holds studies and has unsaved changes, an "Unsaved Changes" prompt appears first. Choose Save Changes to keep the current work, Discard Changes to abandon it, or Cancel to stay in the workspace you have.

The command is unavailable while the workspace is locked by a save or a load, and while a study is generating records.
