Create Study
Creating a study adds a new ephemeris study of the type you choose to the current workspace, with no records generated yet. The new study is appended to the Studies list, becomes the selected study, and opens its editor in the content pane, ready to be configured and generated.
You create all nine study types the same way, so once you know the gesture you can reach any of them.
Create a Study
To add a study to the workspace:
- Click Ephemerides on the menu bar.
- Click the study type you want in the Ephemerides menu.

The nine types appear in three separated groups: the three standard ephemerides, the three aspect ephemerides, and the three graphic ephemerides.
Each study type also has its own button on the Toolbar, which creates the same study in one click.

What a New Study Starts From
A new study is not blank. Cygnus pre-fills its settings from the current workspace defaults, which cover the location, zodiac system, coordinate origin, reference plane, start date and time, end date, interval, and time unit, and then applies any preset you have marked as the default over them.
- The workspace defaults supply the base settings; edit them in Default Settings.
- A default ephemeris preset supplies the location and reference system settings.
- A default bodies list preset supplies the body selection.
You can create a study while another study is still generating records. The command is unavailable only while the workspace is locked by a save or a load.
