Bodies List Presets

A bodies list preset is a named, reusable body selection. If you always work with the same dozen bodies, a preset restores that set in a single click instead of a dozen checkbox clicks on every new study.

Presets belong to the list they were saved from. On an aspect study the Inner Bodies and Outer Bodies lists therefore keep their own separate sets of presets.

Open the Presets Menu​

The bodies lists have no presets button of their own. Every preset command is reached by right-clicking a body row within the Bodies list; right-clicking a group header row does nothing. The preset commands sit in the bottom half of the context menu that opens.

Apply a Bodies List Preset​

To restore a saved body selection:

  1. Right-click any body row in the Bodies list to open the context menu.
  2. Click Presets in the context menu.
  3. Click the preset's name in the Presets submenu.

Save a New Bodies List Preset​

To capture the selection you have on screen:

  1. Right-click any body row in the Bodies list to open the context menu.
  2. Click New Preset in the context menu.
  3. Enter a name for the preset in the Enter Name dialog and click Save.

The named preset joins this list's Presets submenu and is available to every study of the same kind.

The Enter Name Dialog​

The Enter Name dialog is the small window Cygnus shows whenever a preset needs a name, both when you create one and when you rename one. It holds a single text box with Save and Cancel buttons.

To name the preset:

  1. Enter the name in the text box.
  2. Click Save.

Pressing Enter does the same thing as clicking Save. The Save button stays disabled until you have typed at least one character.

To back out instead:

  • Click Cancel.

Pressing Escape does the same thing. The dialog closes with no name returned, and the preset is neither created nor renamed.

Set the Default Bodies List Preset​

Marking a preset as the default makes every study you create from then on open with that body selection already checked.

  1. Right-click any body row in the Bodies list to open the context menu.
  2. Click Presets in the context menu.
  3. Right-click the preset's name and select Set Default.

Clear the Default Bodies List Preset​

To stop new studies from starting from a saved body selection:

  1. Right-click any body row in the Bodies list to open the context menu.
  2. Click Clear Default in the context menu.

The chevron disappears from every preset in the submenu, and new studies no longer start from a saved selection.

Rename a Bodies List Preset​

Renaming changes only the label. The saved body selection and the preset's default status are untouched.

  1. Right-click any body row in the Bodies list to open the context menu.
  2. Click Presets in the context menu.
  3. Right-click the preset's name and select Rename.
  4. Enter the new name in the Enter Name dialog and click Save.

Replace a Bodies List Preset​

Replacing overwrites a saved preset with the selection the list has right now, keeping its name and its default status.

  1. Right-click any body row in the Bodies list to open the context menu.
  2. Click Presets in the context menu.
  3. Right-click the preset's name and select Replace.
  4. Confirm the replacement. See Confirm a Yes/No Confirmation Prompt.

Delete a Bodies List Preset​

To remove a preset you no longer need:

  1. Right-click any body row in the Bodies list to open the context menu.
  2. Click Presets in the context menu.
  3. Right-click the preset's name and select Delete.
  4. Confirm the deletion. See Confirm a Yes/No Confirmation Prompt.
