Unlock Study
A study locks when its generation completes, so the results on screen always match the parameters that produced them. Unlocking returns it to its editable state. Because the existing results would no longer match the settings you are about to change, unlocking discards the generated records, and Cygnus asks you to confirm first.
The Unlock button is at the bottom right of every study editor and is enabled only while the study is locked.
Unlock the Study for Editing
To make a completed study editable again:
- Click the Unlock button at the bottom right of the study editor.
- Confirm the prompt. See Confirm a Yes/No Confirmation Prompt.
The confirmation prompt reads "Unlock the study? The records for the study will be deleted when the study is unlocked." on the six tabular studies, and "Unlock the study? The graph data for the study will be deleted when the study is unlocked." on the three graphic studies.
Once the study is unlocked, its settings become editable, the results clear, the record count bar fades out, and the Run button reappears so you can generate the study again.
If you want to keep the current results and try a variation, copy the study first. The copy starts unlocked and holds no records, so you can change one setting on the copy and leave the original intact.
What You Can Change Without Unlocking
Not everything needs an unlock. On a locked study you can still:
- Rename it. See Study Name.
- Change which measurements are shown. See Body Metrics List.
- Show, hide, and reorder table columns. See Show or Hide Table Columns.
- Jump to a date, copy rows, and export to CSV.
Anything that would change the data itself, such as the location, the reference system, the date range, the interval, or the body selection, needs an unlock.
