Save Workspace
Save your workspace to a .aquila file so you can reopen it later. Saving writes the full workspace state to disk, including every study and its settings.
Saving the Workspace
Use Save to write your changes back to the workspace's existing file.
To save the workspace:
- Click File → Save on the menu bar.

You can also save from the Save button on the toolbar, or by pressing Ctrl+S (Cmd+S on macOS). If the workspace has never been saved, the save-file dialog appears so you can choose a file name and location, as it does for Save As.
Saving to a New File
Use Save As to write the current workspace to a new file, leaving the original file untouched. This is useful for creating a variation of your research without overwriting the original.
To save the workspace to a new file:
- Click File → Save As on the menu bar.
- Enter a file name and choose a location in the save-file dialog.

The newly chosen .aquila file becomes the active workspace file.
Unsaved Changes Prompt
When a workspace has unsaved changes and you start an action that would discard them, Aquila displays the Unsaved Changes prompt so you can decide what to do first. This prompt appears when you create a new workspace, open another workspace, or exit the application while the current workspace has unsaved changes.
The prompt offers three choices: Yes, No, and Cancel.
Save Changes from the Unsaved Changes Prompt
Saving preserves your current work before the requested action continues.
- Click the Yes button.
Aquila saves the workspace and then continues the action that opened the prompt. If the workspace has never been saved, the save-file dialog appears so you can choose a file name first.
Discard Changes from the Unsaved Changes Prompt
Discarding abandons your unsaved work and lets the requested action continue.
- Click the No button.
Aquila discards the unsaved changes and continues the action that opened the prompt.
Cancel from the Unsaved Changes Prompt
Canceling stops the requested action and keeps your workspace as it is.
- Click the Cancel button.
The action that opened the prompt is aborted, and the workspace stays open with its unsaved changes intact.
