Primary Directions Defaults

Set these defaults once, and every new Primary Directions chart starts with your usual method, key and span. Open the Primary Directions sub-tab of the Directions & Progressions tab in the Chart Settings Window and select the defaults. Click Save to keep them.

The sub-tab begins with Orientation, the orientation a new Primary Directions chart opens with. On the chart itself that row sits on the Natal Data tab, not the Directions tab. The rows after it are the defaults for the chart's Directions tab:

  • Method
  • Frame
  • Latitude, available only while Frame is Zodiacal
  • Converse
  • Key
  • Rate, available only while Key is User-Defined Rate
  • Year
  • Max Years

These defaults seed each new Primary Directions chart and leave charts that are already open alone. An open chart keeps its own settings on its Directions tab, described in Primary Direction Settings. Your choices are kept for future sessions when you save them (see Save Chart Settings).

Set the Primary Directions Method Defaults

These rows choose the orientation, method, frame, latitude handling and converse that a new Primary Directions chart opens with. Each row already shows its current default, so keep any value you do not want to change.

  1. Click the Directions & Progressions tab.
  2. Click the Primary Directions sub-tab.
  3. Select the orientation a new chart opens with in the Orientation drop-down.
  4. Select the method and frame in the Method and Frame drop-downs and, while Frame is Zodiacal, the latitude handling in the Latitude drop-down.
  5. Select the converse definition in the Converse drop-down.

note

The frame is chosen before the latitude handling because it governs the Latitude drop-down.

Set the Primary Directions Key and Span Defaults

These rows choose the key, rate, year reckoning and Max Years that a new Primary Directions chart opens with. Each row already shows its current default, so keep any value you do not want to change.

  2. Click the Primary Directions sub-tab.
  3. Select the time key in the Key drop-down.
  4. If Key is User-Defined Rate, double-click the value in the Rate box to select it.
  5. Type a rate in degrees per year.

The Primary Directions sub-tab of the Chart Settings window with User-Defined Rate chosen as the key, and numbered callouts on the tabs, the Key row and the enabled Rate box.

Set the Year and Max Years Defaults

On the Primary Directions sub-tab of the Directions & Progressions tab:

  1. Select the year reckoning in the Year drop-down.
  2. Double-click the number in the Max Years box to select it.
