Superior Planetary Cycles Study

The Superior Planetary Cycles Study generates one event per complete synodic cycle of a superior planet (Mars through Pluto). Each event captures the cycle's retrograde station, opposition with the Sun, direct station, conjunction with the Sun, and the time periods between every phase.

Create a Superior Planetary Cycles Study

To add a new Superior Planetary Cycles Study to the active workspace:

1. Click Mundane Studies on the menu bar.
2. Click Planetary Cycles, then click Superior Planetary Cycles in the submenu.

You can also create a Superior Planetary Cycles Study from the toolbar by clicking the Planetary Cycle Studies drop-down button and selecting Superior Planetary Cycles.

Events Captured

A Superior Planetary Cycles event represents one complete synodic cycle of a superior planet, anchored at the retrograde station. The row contains the cycle's retrograde station, solar opposition, direct station, solar conjunction, and the time durations between each phase up to the next retrograde station.

The events table for a Superior Planetary Cycles Study contains the following columns:

Body	Name of the superior planet (Mars through Pluto).
Retrograde Station Longitude	Ecliptic longitude at the retrograde station.
Retrograde Station Sign	Zodiac sign at the retrograde station.
Pre Opposition Period (days)	Days from the retrograde station to the solar opposition.
Solar Opposition Date Time	Date and time of the solar opposition (the body opposite the Sun).
Solar Opposition Longitude	Ecliptic longitude at the solar opposition.
Solar Opposition Sign	Zodiac sign at the solar opposition.
Post Opposition Period (days)	Days from the solar opposition to the direct station.
Direct Station Date Time	Date and time of the direct station.
Direct Station Longitude	Ecliptic longitude at the direct station.
Direct Station Sign	Zodiac sign at the direct station.
Pre Conjunction Period (days)	Days from the direct station to the solar conjunction.
Solar Conjunction Date Time	Date and time of the solar conjunction.
Solar Conjunction Longitude	Ecliptic longitude at the solar conjunction.
Solar Conjunction Sign	Zodiac sign at the solar conjunction.
Post Conjunction Period (days)	Days from the solar conjunction to the next retrograde station (cycle close).
Event Interval	Time interval since the previous superior planetary cycle.
