Bodies Selection List
Most studies include a checkbox list of celestial bodies. Checking a body includes it in the study; unchecking it leaves it out. The list is how you tell a study which planets, points, and other bodies to examine.
How the List Is Organized
The heading above the list, and the number of lists shown, depend on the study:
- Studies that work with a single set of bodies show one list headed Bodies.
- Studies that compare two groups show an Inner Bodies list and an Outer Bodies list.
- Studies that compare three groups show Inner Bodies, Middle Bodies, and Outer Bodies lists.
- Transit studies show a Natal Bodies list and a Transiting Bodies list, so you can pick which natal bodies are activated and which transiting bodies do the activating.
The exact bodies offered also vary by study and by the coordinate origin you choose in the Ephemeris Settings. For example, a heliocentric setting replaces the Earth-centered points with a Sun-centered set.
Available Bodies
A typical geocentric study offers the following bodies and points:
- Ascendant
- Medium Coeli
- Descendant
- Imum Coeli
- Moon
- Mercury
- Venus
- Sun
- Mars
- Jupiter
- Saturn
- Uranus
- Neptune
- Pluto
- Tenet
- Lunar Apogee
- Mean Apogee
- North Node
- Mean Node
- Vesta
- Juno
- Ceres
- Pallas
- Chiron
- Pholus
Some studies narrow this set to the bodies that make sense for their calculation. For instance, a study of retrograde motion lists only the bodies that can turn retrograde.
Including or Excluding a Single Body
- Click the checkbox on a body's row to check or uncheck it.

Selecting Several Bodies at Once
When you want to change many bodies together, highlight the rows first, then use the right-click menu.
To include several highlighted bodies:
- Highlight one or more rows in the bodies list.
- Right-click a highlighted row and select Select.

To exclude several highlighted bodies:
- Highlight one or more rows in the bodies list.
- Right-click a highlighted row and select Deselect.

Clearing the Whole List
To uncheck every body at once:
- Right-click any row in the bodies list and select Clear All.
Saving Body Selections as Presets
You can save a set of checked bodies as a named preset and reapply it later. See Bodies List Presets for the full workflow.
