Year Reckoning

A time-key technique converts elapsed symbolic motion into a calendar date, and to do that it has to know how long a year of life is. Different schools measure it differently, and the choice shifts every directed or progressed date the study produces.

The Year drop-down states which convention the study should use. It is on the three time-key techniques: the Primary Directions Study, the Solar Arc Directions Study and the Secondary Progressions Study.

The key rates themselves are astronomical and do not move with this setting. Year Reckoning governs only the conversion from symbolic motion to a calendar date.

Select the Year Reckoning

To set the convention:

  1. Click the Directions tab in the study's settings tab control.
  2. Select a convention from the Year drop-down.

An unlocked Primary Directions study with the Directions tab active and the Year drop-down open, showing both conventions.

On the Secondary Progressions study the same drop-down sits on the tab labeled Progressions rather than Directions. The gesture is otherwise identical: on all three studies the drop-down sits on its own settings tab, so the tab click is always needed.
