Parallel Aspect Settings
The Parallels tab of the Aspect Settings window controls the two fixed parallel aspect kinds, Parallel and Contraparallel, editing them side by side. Each kind has its own orb, measured in latitude or declination degrees, and its own chord color. These are the dashed chords the wheel draws when a chart's parallel-aspect display is set to show them.
A Parallel links two bodies at the same declination; a Contraparallel links two bodies at opposite declinations. Both are independent of the ordinary angular aspects, which you edit on the Aspect Definitions tab.
Set the parallel and contraparallel orbs and colors
The Parallels tab is not the default tab of the Aspect Settings window, so you click it first to reach these controls.
To set the orbs and colors of the parallel aspects:
- Click the Parallels tab.
- Configure the Parallel aspect: type its tolerance into the Parallel Orb field and choose its chord color with the parallel color picker.
- Configure the Contraparallel aspect: type its tolerance into the Contraparallel Orb field and choose its chord color with the contraparallel color picker.

Your changes recolor the parallel and contraparallel chords on every open chart of this type live. Save the window to persist them (see Aspect Settings).
Whether a given chart shows these chords at all is controlled by its parallel-aspect display, whose default you set on the Chart Display Defaults tab.
