Natal Records Editor
The Natal Records Editor is a window for managing the shared library of natal records used by transit studies. Maintaining a reusable set of records means you can point any transit study at a saved record instead of re-entering its details.
Each record has a Name, Natal Date, Natal Time, Location Name, Latitude, Longitude, and Height, edited directly in the table. The bottom bar provides Add, Delete, and Save, and Close dismisses the window. A menu bar across the top offers file and data commands, including importing and exporting the library.

Opening the Natal Records Editor
To open the Natal Records Editor:
- Click Edit → Natal Records on the menu bar.
Record Columns
The Natal Records table has seven columns, all editable:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The name or label of the natal record. |
| Natal Date | The natal date, shown in short-date format. |
| Natal Time | The natal time of day. |
| Location Name | The name of the birth or event location. |
| Latitude | The location's latitude, in decimal degrees. |
| Longitude | The location's longitude, in decimal degrees. |
| Height (ft) | The location's elevation, in feet. |
Adding a Record
To add a natal record:

A new, empty row is appended to the table, ready for you to fill in.
Editing a Record
Cells are edited with a single click, never a double-click. You can edit any column of a record the same way.
To edit a record:
- Click a row to select it.
- Click the cell you want to change.
- Type the new value.
- Press Tab to commit the change and move to the next cell.

Saving Records
To save your changes:
- Click the Save button.
You can also save from the menu bar with File → Save, or by pressing Ctrl+S (Cmd+S on macOS). The records are written to the shared library and become available to transit studies.
Closing the Editor
To close the Natal Records Editor:
- Click the Close button.
You can also close it from the menu bar with File → Exit.
Importing and Exporting Records
The Data menu on the editor's menu bar lets you move records between the library and a file:
- Data → Import brings records from a file into the library. See Import Natal Records.
- Data → Export writes the library out to a file. See Export Natal Records.
