Timeline Study
A Timeline Study aggregates events from any combination of generator studies in the active workspace into a single chronological view. Use a Timeline Study to see the bigger picture across your research without switching back and forth between individual studies. Each event the Timeline reports comes from one of the selected generator studies; the Timeline does not generate astronomical events on its own.

Create a Timeline Study
To add a new Timeline Study to the active workspace:
- Click Other Studies on the menu bar.
- Click Timeline Study in the menu.
You can also create a Timeline Study from the toolbar by clicking the Timeline Study button.
A new Timeline Study is added to the studies list and selected for configuration.
Configure a Timeline Study
To configure the new Timeline Study:
- Type a name in the Study Name text box.
- Check the boxes beside the generator studies you want the Timeline to aggregate.
The Timeline Study lists every event-generator study currently in the workspace. Check the studies whose events you want to include; clear the checkboxes to exclude them.
Load Timeline Events
To aggregate the selected generator studies' events into the Timeline:
- Click the Load button.
See Load Timeline Events for details.
Timeline Table Columns
The Timeline table presents an elegantly simplified two-column view:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Date Time | Date and time of the aggregated event in long date/time format. |
| Event | A human-readable description of the event (multi-line descriptions wrap in the column). |
Working With the Timeline
After loading, the Timeline Study contains a populated Timeline Table with one row per event drawn from the selected generator studies.

The Timeline Study supports the following operations once events are loaded:
- Find In Timeline: Scroll the timeline to the event closest to a target date.
- Export Timeline Events to CSV: Save the timeline's events to a CSV file.
- Unlock Timeline Study: Re-enable editing so the Timeline can be reconfigured and reloaded.
